MetroParks Daily Fishing Permits- 2024

This is to purchase a Daily Fishing Pass only. The lake at Voice of America is stocked annually and ready for fishing. MetroParks Fishing Passes are only needed at the Voice of America lake. A State of Ohio fishing license is required to fish at all other locations. If you are interested in purchasing an annual Fishing Pass, please visit the Voice of America Welcome Center during business hours. Children 5 years and younger can fish for free.

Women's Explorer Backpacking Series: Session Three-Hygiene, Leave No Trace and Let's Hike!

Alright ladies, it's time to talk hygiene; our issues are a little different than our male hiking buddies, so we'll cover everything you need to know but are afraid to ask! We'll go through some Leave No Trace principles, including how we can respect nature and other hikers, where to set up camp and starting fires. Bring your backpack and make it heavy! We'll talk about how to properly pack it before starting on a short, interactive practice hike around the park. Participants will receive their own LNT (Leave No Trace) card. This session will be held outdoors.

Ages 16 & up. Registration is required. $20/person, $99/person for the series.

Birding for Beginners Hike

Curious about birds but don't know where to start looking for them? Join us for a great opportunity to gain sleuthing skills needed to identify our common and not-so common bird species. Learn the basics of how to sight a bird in a scope or binoculars, use a bird guide or bird ID app, and listen to their sounds to help identify our fine feathered friends. After a quick introduction, we will take a hike and see what spring migratory discoveries we can find. Bring your own binoculars or borrow a pair from us.

Big Week of Birding Hike

Springtime migratory season is upon us! Birders of all levels are encouraged to join us for our "Big Week of Birding" hikes. Gilmore MetroPark is a great place for birds, and whether you don't even own a pair of binoculars or have been birding for years, you're sure to see some cool birds on this hike. A Limited supply of binoculars will be available for use.
