MetroParks Daily Fishing Permits- 2024

This is to purchase a Daily Fishing Pass only. The lake at Voice of America is stocked annually and ready for fishing. MetroParks Fishing Passes are only needed at the Voice of America lake. A State of Ohio fishing license is required to fish at all other locations. If you are interested in purchasing an annual Fishing Pass, please visit the Voice of America Welcome Center during business hours. Children 5 years and younger can fish for free.

Salute to Pioneers

Join the Indian Creek Pioneer Church Restoration Committee and MetroParks of Butler County for the annual Salute to Pioneers. Guest speaker Andrew Sawyer from the Miami University Myaamia Center who will discuss the local history of the Myaamia Tribe and their forced removal from their ancestral lands in 1846. Attendees can explore the historic Pioneer Church and Burial Grounds after the scheduled program.

Secret Stamps- Voice of America MetroPark

Are you a super sleuth? A maven of maps and mysteries? Uncover the secret world of Letterboxing. Letterboxers around the world follow clues to publicly accessible hidden boxes containing unique stamps and logbooks to record who has completed the challenges. Don't have a stamp or logbook? We've got you covered. Each registered participant will create their own stamp and logbook before heading out on the self-guided letterbox hunt. The letterbox challenge can be started any time in the two-hour window, but completion times will vary depending on the speed of your group.

Farm Foundations - Goats Part One

Join us for an agriculture educational program designed to give you a farming foundation you can build upon. Part one of the two-part series will introduce you to the Chrisholm Historic Farmstead resident goats. Through fun, hands-on activities you will learn basic information about goats including their different breeds, life cycle, husbandry practices, nutrition, and the goat's agricultural significance. Participants will practice grooming and feeding the goats, too. Registration is required by May 31. Children 8 years and up. Under age of 16 years must be accompanied by an adult.

Wonder Wednesdays

Join the McCloskey Museum and MetroParks' staff for summer nature programs at Marcum Park. We will supply craft materials to make and fill your very own nature journal. Use your senses to explore the park's natural areas while enjoying excerpts from the Caldecott Award winning local author, Robert McCloskey's "Time of Wonder". This special program is for all ages. Children 16 years and under must be accompanied by an adult. FREE but registration is required due to journal supplies.

Let's find out about our watershed and the creatures that call Sebald home. We'll supply everything you need to explore the water, the creek's fossils and aquatic wildlife.

Friends of Chrisholm Friends & Family Reunion

107th Augspurger Reunion and the Friends of Chrisholm Annual Meeting. This event is open to all Augspurger and Butler County's Amish Mennonite community descendants, members of Friends of Chrisholm (FOC), and those interested in learning more about the FOC. Guest speaker Fred Lutzi of Bloomington, IL is an agronomist interested in long-term sustainability of agriculture and communities. A descendant of Butler County's Amish Mennonite community, Mr. Lutzi will deliver a talk titled "Perennial Lessons from the Past for Agriculture of the Future." FOC will provide an update on current activities including progress with their "Save Our Cellar" fundraiser. Event includes lunch-Adults only please.
