MetroParks Daily Fishing Permits- 2024

This is to purchase a Daily Fishing Pass only. The lake at Voice of America is stocked annually and ready for fishing. MetroParks Fishing Passes are only needed at the Voice of America lake. A State of Ohio fishing license is required to fish at all other locations. If you are interested in purchasing an annual Fishing Pass, please visit the Voice of America Welcome Center during business hours. Children 5 years and younger can fish for free.

Nature Explorers - Arts in the Park

What better way to enjoy mid-summer than with fun programs in YOUR MetroParks! Join us on Friday mornings and explore a different park each week. This week's topic is ARTS IN THE PARK at the Timberman Ridge Area of Forest Run MetroPark. Bring your imagination and we'll supply the
materials you'll need to bring home a masterpiece.

Due to the popularity and structure of these programs, large groups, such as day camps, cannot be accommodated.

Plein Air Painting with Middletown Arts Center

In this class you will explore the adventure of plein air painting!

Participants in this class will meet at Forest Run MetroPark. Middletown Arts Center Instructor Nate Flanagan will go over best practices and his favorite supplies for painting in the landscape.

Nate will offer insights based on his own experience plein air painting. What makes a good scene to capture? Are there specific items that spark interest in the work? How do you capture the scene and translate that onto your work?

Our instructor will provide a short demo, and then invite students to dive into their own creative projects. As they are painting, Nate will offer individual guidance and feedback on each student's work.

All Supplies Included with Cost: 11x14 canvas, table top easel, acrylic paints, brushes, pallet/water, etc.)

Nature journaling is a fantastic way to observe and deepen your connection with nature, it's a lens to help focus your attention, enrich your outdoor experiences and expand your thinking. Join Pamela Knudson and learn a simple approach to capture the wonders of natural world in your nature journal.

Join us for a tail-wagging, paw pattering hound hike. Bring your canine friend for a fun, stress-free walk at different parks throughout the summer. All dogs must be kept on a 6' leash and be animal and people friendly. All ages. FREE.

Wonder Wednesdays

Join the McCloskey Museum and MetroParks' staff for summer nature programs at Marcum Park. We will supply craft materials to make and fill your very own nature journal. Use your senses to explore the park's natural areas while enjoying excerpts from the Caldecott Award winning local author, Robert McCloskey's "Time of Wonder". All ages. Children 16 years and under must be accompanied by an adult. FREE but registration is required due to journal supplies.

Think rocks are boring? Join MetroParks and we'll change your mind! We'll go on a short hike to search the creek for fossils that will tell an epic tale of how Cincinnati looked 450 million years ago. From animals to the environment and everything in between, there's a lot you can learn from a simple rock on the ground. All ages. FREE.
