Star Gazing Series: Buck Moon

The full moon in July is known as the Buck Moon! This moon is named so for the peak growth time of the antlers of male white-tailed deer, or bucks.

Join in with volunteers from the Cincinnati Astronomical Society and Cincinnati Observatory as we take a peek at the moon, stars, and the night sky using telescopes in the park. Learn about the Supermoon that will take place mid-week on July 13th!

Registration is required for this nighttime program and space is limited!

Show and Tell on the Farm - Calling All Farmhands

Special Show and Tell with guest stars from Three Valley Conservation Trust! Do you have what it takes to be a farmhand and to do work on a farm? Do you know what a CSA is? Explore life on the farm through fun games, activities, snack and help feed the farm animals, too.

Yoga in the Park

Yoga improves strength, balance and flexibility and helps to manage stress and anxiety levels. Yoga also offers relaxation, ways to better manage stress and the wonderful support of a warm and welcoming community! Practicing yoga outside in nature has proven to lower heart rate/blood pressure and even boost immunity!

Yoga in the Park will he held in the gazebo next to the lake at Voice of America MetroPark. Please bring your own mat.

Online registration is required by 5:00 p.m. on the date of the program.

Hump Day Concert Series- Cincinnati Transit Authority + Cincinnati Silent Flyers

Are you ready to rock out with MetroParks?!

Join MetroParks and presenting sponsor, UC Health, every Wednesday from May 25th to August 10th for FREE outdoor concerts at the Athletic Complex at Voice of America MetroPark in West Chester, Ohio. Come early to enjoy all new exciting pre-show activities and stay for the excellent food trucks and tunes.

6PM - 7PM: It's not a bird, or a a plane, it's.... actually it is a plane! An RC plane, that is. Cincinnati's ONLY all-electric RC club, The Cincinnati Silent Flyers, will be present before the concert for participants to get an up close look at their unique and interesting planes.

7PM - 9PM: Cincinnati Transit Authority- Does anybody really know what time it is? We do- It's time for you to come see this band! A dedicated tribute band of 8 talented Rock, Jazz, and Blues musicians, this is a concert you just can't miss.

Creeking in the Parks

Join MetroParks and Butler Soil and Water Conservation District every Thursday in June and July from 10:00a.m. Ė 12:00p.m. as we explore creeks and waterways in the parks throughout Butler County.

We will be at a different park each week, so there are always new areas to explore! We'll look for creek critters such as: amphibians, fish, reptiles, macroinvertebrates, and even fossils!

This week at Indian Creek MetroPark - Oxford-Reily Road Area, help us to explore this incredibly healthy creek! Wildlife galore can be found here.

Please wear close-toed shoes for all creeking events. Based on unsafe weather and/or water levels, cancellations are possible. Please check back here, the MetroParks of Butler County website*, or the MetroParks Facebook page** for any potential updates.

The Nature of Kids - H2O, Let's Go!

Summertime is here! What better way to enjoy it than with fun summer programs in the Parks?!

During The Nature of Kids summer series, join MetroParks of Butler County with partners Butler Soil and Water Conservation District and Ohio State University Extension every Friday for exciting summertime fun!

Join in this week for a waterful and exciting day full of games, a creek walk, and of course, WATER! A key part of all life, let's learn about water, why it's important, and have a great time in the park while doing so!

The Nature of Kids summer programs rotate to a different MetroPark every two weeks. Be sure to always check the location for each program!

Due to the popularity and structure of these programs, large groups, such as day camps, cannot be accommodated.

Let's Go Hiking! Summer Flora

Summertime is full of life! Letís go hiking to visit the habitats of Harbin Park. There are so many plants that are leafed out and in bloom, so letís explore the trails to check them out! Insects and animals use these plants to survive. Letís see what we can find!

Crazy Carboard Regatta

BOATS! BOATS! BOATS! Cardboard boats, that is. MetroParks of Butler County and presenting sponsor UC Health are excited to announce the return of the Crazy Cardboard Regatta on Saturday, July 16th from 11:00 AM-3:00 PM at Voice of America MetroPark in West Chester!

Do you think youíve got what it takes? Then, sign your team up to build your own cardboard boat and join the amazing race around the lake!

Sea legs arenít quite ready; you say? No problem! Vendors, entertainment, activities, and more await you upon shore.

Either way, come on out for some summer family fun, and donít forget to keep calm and boat on! FREE for spectators!
