Experience Nature in a Blink, a year-long series in which MetroParks offers opportunities throughout the year to appreciate fleeting natural occurrences.
The moment the ground begins to thaw, the salamanders of Indian Creek are ready to go! Join us during this special evening program to observe migration from forest to vernal pools where the salamanders can safely lay their eggs.
Space is limited, so pre-registration is required. Once the migration has been confirmed, pre-registered participants will be notified the night before or morning of the program and have until 2:00 pm that day to confirm registration. All spaces not claimed by 2:00 pm will be offered to those on the waiting list. There will be three time slots on the day of the program; this pages is for the 7:45 pm time slot. Please only register for one time!

It's owl courting season! We'll enjoy hot chocolate and a fire while learning about the adaptations that make owls such amazing hunters. Then we'll venture out into the cold to try to find them.

Hone your skills and learn how to participate in Project Feeder Watch and the Great Backyard Bird Count. Build a wooden birdhouse to take home for the birds who spend time in your own backyard. All tools, hardware and safety equipment will be provided on site.
$20/kit. More than one person can work together on a kit.
Ages 13+ (children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult).
Join us as we explore Harbin Park at night in search of owls. We'll learn about the adaptations that make owls such amazing hunters, before venturing out on the trails to try to find them.

Explore your MetroPark after dark with a night hike to reveal the magic maple trees use to create their liquid treasure. Follow the journey of maple syrup from tap to table and discover mysteries usually hidden in the daylight. Warm up by the fire while sampling maple-inspired recipes and making your own maple memories.

Spring is just around the corner. Plan for your spring herb garden! In this fun-filled workshop, children will learn how to start their own herb garden from seed. We'll explore the magic of spring planting, decorate pots, and create garden journals to track their herbs' growth. Each child will take home their planted herbs, care instructions, and growth tracking sheet. No experience needed, just curiosity and a love for nature!
Ages 5-13 (children must be accompanied by an adult).
