Orienteering Trail of Treats

Adventure with a map! Participants get a detailed map to locate a series of control points shown on the map. Suitable for all ages, you may complete for the fastest time, or enjoy a leisurely hike using a map to explore the park. Each event offers five different courses of varying difficulty and length-there is one suitable for every adventurer.
Trail of Treats is designed for young children. Upon finishing the course, children may select a prize to take home. Costumes are encouraged, but conditions may be muddy. Registration is required at ocin.org
$4/child for Trail of Treats ($10/family maximum, accompanying adults FREE)
$10/older children & adults for challenging courses. Multiple courses at no additional charge.

How to Explore the Paranormal

Come out to Chrisholm MetroPark to learn the basics of exploring the unknown. Get hands-on practice with investigative tools both new and old as you explore this farmstead steeped in history. With the help of local experts Spiritual Realm Paranormal Investigators, you'll even get a brief glimpse of a typical paranormal investigation.

Augspurger House Paranormal Investigation

For the very first time at the historic 1800s Augspurger House, be part of an actual paranormal investigation! Led by local guides at Spiritual Realm Paranormal Investigators, this program merges age-old human intuitions and sensitivities with modern technology. When looking for answers, patience is key; this thorough investigation requires several hours watching and waiting for any activity from the other side.

Brownie Girl Scouts: Eco-Friends

Become a guest in nature's home as we hike the trails and explore how our animal friends find shelter and protection in the forest. Along the way, we'll practice some of our own wilderness skills, like building safe campfires, all while being an eco-friend to the environment.


This program is for Brownie Girl Scouts. Scouts must be accompanied by a paid, participating adult. Registration required.

Make and Take Cornbread

Have you ever wondered how to make mouthwatering cornbread from scratch? It's quick, easy, and definitely worth your effort! Friends of Chrisholm's own Carmon Hacker will demonstrate step by step how to make the batter of her "Blue Ribbon Cornbread", which won First Place at the Butler County Fair. Following the demonstration, you will assemble the dry ingredients. Take the mix home to add the liquid ingredients and bake your own batch!


Registration required. 13 years and up. Under 18 years must be accompanied by an adult.

Experience Nature in a Blink, a year-long series where you become eyewitness to the elusive wonders of nature at your favorite MetroParks.


While we may not associate Ohio with the coast, many waterfowl and shorebirds fly their way across the state heading south for the winter. The wetlands at Gilmore Ponds make for a perfect stopover, depending on water level - come join us to see what we can find!
