Winter Hike Series - Timberman Ridge MetroPark

Join us for the MetroParks of Butler County Winter Hike Series! This weekly hiking event will highlight the beauty of Butler County in winter by exploring a different park each week. Timberman Ridge MetroPark sprawls out along a restored prairie ridge, offering panoramic views across the forested valley. These guided hikes will average about 3 miles and end with a hot beverage and a bowl of soup. Vegetarian option available.

Rooted Living: Sourdough for Beginners

This introductory class covers the fundamentals of sourdough bread making. Participants will learn how to feed and maintain a sourdough starter, understand the fermentation process, and practice basic techniques for mixing, shaping, and baking. The class is designed for those with little to no experience and aims to provide a solid foundation for baking sourdough at home.

Ages 13+ (children under 18 must be accompanied by a paid adult).

Join us for the MetroParks of Butler County Winter Hike Series! This weekly hiking event will highlight the beauty of Butler County in winter by exploring a different park each week. This final week at Governor Bebb MetroPark will end at the cabins of the Pioneer Village, situated above the forested banks of Dry Fork Creek. These guided hikes will average about 3 miles and end with a hot beverage and a bowl of soup. Vegetarian option available.

Nature in a Blink: Salamander Migration (7:45 PM Time Slot)

Experience Nature in a Blink, a year-long series in which MetroParks offers opportunities throughout the year to appreciate fleeting natural occurrences.

The moment the ground begins to thaw, the salamanders of Indian Creek are ready to go! Join us during this special evening program to observe migration from forest to vernal pools where the salamanders can safely lay their eggs.

Space is limited, so pre-registration is required. Once the migration has been confirmed, pre-registered participants will be notified the night before or morning of the program and have until 2:00 pm that day to confirm registration. All spaces not claimed by 2:00 pm will be offered to those on the waiting list. There will be three time slots on the day of the program; this pages is for the 7:45 pm time slot. Please only register for one time!

It's owl courting season! We'll enjoy hot chocolate and a fire while learning about the adaptations that make owls such amazing hunters. Then we'll venture out into the cold to try to find them.

It's for the Birds - Build a Birdhouse

Hone your skills and learn how to participate in Project Feeder Watch and the Great Backyard Bird Count. Build a wooden birdhouse to take home for the birds who spend time in your own backyard. All tools, hardware and safety equipment will be provided on site.

$20/kit. More than one person can work together on a kit.

Ages 13+ (children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult).
