109th Augspurger Reunion/Friends of Chrisholm Annual Meeting

This event is open to all Augspurger descendants, historical Butler County Amish Mennonite community descendants, Friends of Chrisholm members, and those interested in learning more about Chrisholm Farmstead and the Friends of Chrisholm organization. Friends of Chrisholm will provide an update on current activities and the overall state of the organization.

Jeff Lehman, Board President, will present a talk on Christian Iutzi, the Hessian Amish Mennonite, and their influence on the historic Amish Mennonite community of Butler County. Descendant Gretchen Bainum will share the story of Christian Iutzi's grandfather clock, which has remained in the family for over 250 years. Nature in a Blink: Fireflies

Experience Nature in a Blink, a year-long series in which MetroParks offers opportunities to appreciate fleeting seasonal natural occurrences.

Fireflies or lightning bugs? No matter what you call them, we'll shed some light on the mysteries of these bioluminescent superstars. Find out the how's and why's and then explore the trails as we spot these winged wonders in action.

Find the fun side of nature when you become a Nature Explorer. This month-long series shows you unique ways to get hands-on experience with nature and explore your favorite MetroParks.

Today, we are exploring science, technology, engineering, and math through our natural environment. Build a mini boat with upcycled materials to harness the power of water, investigate natural water propulsion, and visit a real historic canal on a short hike.

Find the fun side of nature when you become a Nature Explorer. This month-long series shows you unique ways to get hands-on with nature and explore some of your favorite MetroParks.

This week, we are using our nature as our artistic inspiration with solar photo paper and drawing by sound. Take a short hike to explore where the Fibonacci sequence occurs and take home your very own example to grow through the summer.

Sourdough for Beginners

This introductory class covers the fundamentals of sourdough breadmaking. Participants will learn where to source sourdough starter, how to feed and maintain it, and the fermentation process, as well as basic techniques for mixing, shaping, and baking. The class is designed for those with little to no experience and aims to provide a solid foundation for baking sourdough at home. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
